Santa Clara Family Health Plan Receives NCQA Interim Accreditation
Campbell, CA – November 27, 2017 – Santa Clara Family Health Plan (SCFHP) announced today that it has been awarded an Accreditation status of "Interim" by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations.
SCFHP's "Interim" Accreditation status – awarded to its Cal MediConnect (Medicare) line of business – is based on a voluntary review of how the health plan ensures its members are receiving high quality care. SCFHP's Cal MediConnect plan serves individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medi-Cal. Cal MediConnect provides medical, behavioral health, and vision benefits, as well as long-term care, care coordination, and other supportive services.
"We are proud to receive NCQA's Interim Accreditation. It is a validation of our commitment to quality and dedication to improving the health of our members," said SCFHP CEO Christine M. Tomcala. "Congratulations to SCFHP staff who worked diligently over the past year to achieve this organizational milestone."
NCQA awards an initial status of "Interim" to organizations with basic structure and processes in place to meet expectations for consumer protection and quality improvement. Organizations awarded this status undergo a new review within 18 months to demonstrate they have executed those processes effectively. SCFHP is now working towards this next level of review – First Accreditation.
NCQA Accreditation is the most comprehensive evaluation in the industry, and the only assessment that bases results on clinical performance and consumer experience. High-performing health plans choose NCQA Accreditation because it is respected by stakeholders, including consumers, regulators, health care providers, and researchers.
