CAHPS Reminder

Provider news | Thursday, February 6, 2020

Medicare managed care plans like the SCFHP Cal MediConnect plan are required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to conduct the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey annually. The CAHPS survey gathers feedback from members to indicate areas of improvement for the health plan and its providers. SCFHP has contracted with SPH Analytics to conduct this year’s CAHPS survey.

Starting in March, the survey will be mailed to 1,600 randomly selected SCFHP Cal MediConnect members for completion. It will be available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese. Members will be asked for their opinions regarding the quality, timeliness, and availability of care from providers and pharmacies. The results will then be used to determine quality outcomes for both SCFHP and our providers.
To be included in the CAHPS results, the surveys must be returned in the provided pre-paid envelope and arrive at SPH Analytics by May 29, 2020. In 2019, members indicated a high level of satisfaction with the overall quality of their health care but reported lower levels of satisfaction with the timeliness of their appointments and the ability to get necessary care – feedback that was taken to heart. It’s important that providers encourage their patients to complete and return these surveys so that SCFHP can continue monitoring improvement opportunities and identifying strengths. Thank you for helping SCFHP provide the best quality of care to our members.
