Fitness Classes

The following fitness programs are for those interested in maintaining a healthy and
active lifestyle. As with all Health Education classes, fitness classes are FREE for
Santa Clara Family Health Plan members.
- Aerobics: This class is a popular form of exercise. Aerobics classes generally involve rapid stepping patterns, performed to music with the help of an instructor. Aerobic exercises offer a broad range of health benefits, including cardiovascular and muscular fitness. They also increase ease of movement, lower cholesterol, and improve sleep patterns.
- Salsa-Aerobics: This upbeat class provides the health benefits of aerobic exercise done to Salsa, Cumbia & Merengue music.
- Ballet Folklorico: This traditional Mexican dance has it origins in the legend of a bird sacred to the Indians that represents beauty and grace. Today, Ballet Folklorico is recognized as one of the world's most famous "ethnic" ballets and presents various colorful dances that spotlight Mexico's regions, history, and culture.
- F.A.S.T. This exercise program offers fitness & strength-training for young adults between the ages of 12-17, including athletes and athletes in training.
- Vietnamese Martial Arts: This unique program teaches various self-defense techniques, blocking, kicking, etc. The movements and stances concentrate on drawing all force to the center of the body while performing techniques that increase physical and mental awareness.
- Open Gym: This general fitness class offers various indoor sports, including soccer, basketball, and handball, for those who enjoy different activities.
- San Jose Pal Boxing: The program provides boxing training for young adults and is a member of USA Boxing, Inc. Boxers will be coached in amateur boxing and will compete in sponsored matches and tournaments. Boxers will also receive information on boxing strategy, physical fitness, general nutrition and injury prevention.
- Aquatic Exercise Programs /
(Older adults & Disabled): This program focuses on a variety of services for seniors and people with disabilities and/or developmental delays. Outpatient medical rehabilitation services can help you achieve greater ease of movement, balance, muscle tone, as well as gain greater independence. The program is especially geared for people dealing with arthritis, post-stroke, and other physical challenges.
