The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors established the Santa Clara County Health Authority on August 1, 1995 as a public agency separate and apart from the county, to meet the challenges of delivering quality medical care in Santa Clara County. The Health Authority's 13-member governing board of directors, made up of major health care stakeholders from consumers to local doctors, hospitals, pharmacists as well as elected officials, created Santa Clara Family Health Plan to carry out their mission.
The health plan opened its doors on February 1, 1997, and since then has made great strides in improving the quality of care delivered to the region's low-income families.
It is the job of the board of directors to keep Santa Clara Family Health Plan on top of what the community needs, and to ensure that the plan delivers on those needs. With the health care industry in a state of transition, the health plan benefits greatly from the input of such a diverse group of people, with their innovative ideas and varied perspectives.
Our board meetings are open to the public. Please contact us for the schedule and agenda of an upcoming meeting if you are interested in attending.
